The King of Disruption: Eric Lefkofsky

If you have ever studied disruptive technologies in the Midwest, then you have probably heard of Eric Lefkofsky. Eric Lefkofsky is an inventor, entrepreneur and philanthropist that has made a name for himself by creating new companies, promoting disruptive technology, and teaching thousands of new, young minds to focus on not what technology is out there now, but what technology will be out there before you know it.

Recently, Eric Lefkofsky’s firm Tempus has created a partnership with the University of Chicago Medicine. This partnership aims to build treatments for cancer that are specifically optimized to the patient’s genetic structure. In the past, cancer treatments had been fairly standardized, and the results, due to this standardization, had varying degrees of effectiveness. Now, Tempus is using its machine learning and sequencing capabilities to create a picture of each patient’s genome to assist doctors in finding a treatment that is right for them. They are hoping that this will be the new way to treat cancer in the future.Lefkofsky has several other companies that focus on disruptive technologies as well, including Echo Global Logistics, Uptake Technologies, Innerworkings, Mediaocean, and Lightbank. Lefkofsky is also the co-founder of Groupon, the new and disruptive technology that helps individuals get discounts and deals on the things they need.

Lefkofsky is also a philanthropist, and he often splits his time between work and helping out with the Lefkofsky Family Foundation that he and his wife created in 2006. The Foundation focuses on helping those in need across Chicagoland, and it has helped over 50 organizations since its inception.Eric Lefkofsky is also a world-class professor in disruptive technology and business. He has worked at the DePaul University Kellstadt Graduate School of Business and the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management. He is currently at the University of Chicago, and he will continue to teach, help others, and create disruptive technologies into the foreseeable future.
