Daniel Taub diplomatic career

Daniel Taub has held several political, legal and diplomatic positions in the Israeli foreign ministry. He is an international law expert specializing in the laws of war and counter-terrorism.

He represented Israel in various multilateral fora and served as a legal advisor to Israel missions to Geneva and New York when he was the principal deputy legal advisor.

Taub has had extensive involvement in the Palestinian-Israeli peace process heading Israeli side of the culture of peace track negotiations and helping in the negotiation of a number of agreements reached between the two sides.

Ambassador journey of Daniel Taub

Daniel Taub was appointed the ambassador to the Courts of St. James in 2011 as the second UK-born ambassador to Britain. He placed a strong emphasis on technology and trade links introducing the biz camp a start-up competition in conjunction with Google.

He received a nomination for the Grass root diplomatic initiative for developing trade and business. UK-Israel bilateral trade increased to $8 billion between 2011 and 2013.

Daniel Taub has focused on interfaith and cross-cultural activities and has received invitations to teach Hebrew and Bible study classes in Westminster Abbey and at the church of England Synod.

Jointly with other ambassadors, he has hosted many cultural events reaching out to cultural and ethnic groups. He is a public speaker and lecturer known for his humor.

He was the first Israel ambassador to be interviewed on the BBC Persian service and has been interviewed by Sky News, CNN, and Hard talk. He was the first Israeli ambassador to the International Maritime Organization based in London. His ambassador appointment ended in 2015.

Daniel Taub

Daniel Taub was born in 1962 in the Great Britain. He moved to Israel in 1989 where he has served in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) as a reserve officer and a combat medic in their international law division. He was the Israel ambassador to the United Kingdom from 2011 to 2015.

He has close relations with the Jewish community as he was brought up in the United Kingdom and promotes the unity of Israel through the Closer to Israel program for the Israel 65th anniversary adopted by the Jewish community.

Currently, Taub is the director of Strategy and Planning at the Yad Hanadiv Foundation.

Education and professional training

Taub attended Aske Boys School at the Haberdashers in Elstree, Hertfordshire for his secondary education. He thereafter attended Oxford University College, London University College and Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
